Due to the childish-looking cover, you may not want to try this game.  Nevertheless, Labyrinth Board Game provides a masterpiece for family entertainment.  For one thing, it is that kind of game where the concept, the game play and the artwork come together with family in mind.

While the rules look simple at first, the game play itself is also simply awesome.  As you play more often, you’ll find more creative ways to play.  Sometimes you can even rev up the fun by obstructing each other.

Created especially for children and adults alike, this is a home run.  It encourages solitary play, which is a very important skill for kids.

  • Instructions

This award winner is the junior version of the famous Rush Hour game.  It has 40 challenges and solutions for beginners and experts.  With this game, players develop logical reasoning and planning skills as they play.

The game comes with four sets of card difficulties

  • Easy
  • Intermediate
  • Advance
  • Expert

Mastering the Levels

Once you master all the levels, you can go back and try to complete each level in less steps.  For one thing, it does require a lot of visual-spacial planning and thinking.  You have to rearrange the cars in your mind.

There are cards with diagrams explaining where to place the colored plastic cars and trucks on the parking lot grid.  Then there is the little red car that you need to get out of the grid, which is the parking lot.

You may not jump over cars or trucks nor lift the little red car off the grid in any way.  The cards start out easy and gradually go up to a harder level.  Each card has the answers on the back of the cards, so if you can’t solve the puzzle there is help.

Helps With Memory and Perseverance

By the same token, kids learn to overcome frustration and solve puzzles.  Needless to say it helps with memory and perseverance.  In like manner, it is probably ideal for seniors to keep the brain sharp and stave off dementia.

Chiefly, the goal of the game is to get the red car out of the traffic jam. Ideally, you achieve this goal by moving the trucks and cars that are blocking the path of the red car.  No doubt, the activity really get the brain engaged as you contemplate patterns and strategies to help the car escape.

One key point to note: My therapist friend loves telling the story of how this game is therapy for her aunt.  Unfortunately, her aunt suffered from a mild stroke.  Everyday she uses this game with her and sure enough it helps.

Needless to say she highly recommends it for individuals who suffer from any type of brain trauma or stroke.  No doubt, this game is good for the eyes, finger movements and most of all, thought process for the brain.

Helps With Kids Vision

Top Board Games You Have to Experience (Review)Furthermore, it can also help to improve kids vision.  Another friend tells me that her Behavioral Optometrist recommends this game specifically to help with her son’s vision and thinking skills.  For sure it helps immensely.  Then again, the parents also benefit so it’s like a bonus to them.

Concluding Thoughts

Given these points, I highly recommend Rush Hour Junior Traffic Jam game as it teaches logic skills and spatial reasoning.  To point out, it can be surprisingly difficult to figure out the puzzles as you get to the more challenging levels.  However, it remains a great brain exercise game.

Ideally, it is good for traveling, good for quiet time, and for anyone ages 5-99.  Of course, you can take this game with you anywhere, and occupy your time for hours.  Usually, you play it alone.  By the way, there is an app for this game.

  1. I remember playing Rush Hour back in elementary school. Time flies when you’re having fun. You brought up some wonderful memories for me, playing with my mates and trying my hardest to win. It was a blast. I think I still have it in my cupboard. Let me go check. Rats. I think I will have to get it. The game is wonderful if you are looking for a way to pass the time.

It is good to know Rush Hour helps with memory and perseverance. You need to protect your brain in old age.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

    1. Hi Alex,
I see great memories of Rush Hour here. The fact that this game is still very popular is an indication of just how good it is. Hope you can get it out of the cupboard, brush it off and play with it again.

  2. This game sounds like lots of fun, I always lose when playing board games so I hope this will be different, I like the fact that you can do replays, and it’ll still be interesting.

    1. Hi Rose,
I lose a lot when I play too. But the fun is most important. Hope you’ll get some wins this time and be merrier.

  3. Labyrinth Board Game looks really cool and I want to get it for my nephew. You said that it is for beginners but he has no prior experience. Should I go with this or should I prefer a simpler one?

    1. Hi Furkan,
This board game is easy to learn, so having no prior experience should not be a problem. It also depends on your nephew’s age. The recommended age starts from 8 years old. If you think he will be more comfortable with the junior version, then you could give it a try.
